Elevator Row

This classic 1920’s photo shows the ominous ‘elevator row’ along Railway (50th) street Ponoka, where area farmers brought their precious grain for storage and shipment for many decades.

Over a period of 60 years more than 10 massive wooden elevators served the district, while on the south end of the street the livestock pens accepted pigs and cattle for shipment in the freight cars.
