Remember When: As a youngster Harold Gordanier and many others would fondly remember when the big Canadian Pacific Railway freight trains would rumble into the Ponoka station three times a week during the 1930s and ’40s to unload or pick up livestock, machinery, or supplies. During those really tough times there were always lots of men hanging on the side or riding in the boxcars and hitching a free ride down the line in hopes of finding work or catching up with relatives or old buddies.
