Remember When? Eileen Henderson was an English war bride who had seen service as a nurse during the First World War, and had later come to Lacombe to visit her brother. In 1921 she married Jess Northcott, a long-time resident of Ponoka, and together they purchased land in the Riverside district, built their first home, and farmed for many years. Eileen also served as the nurse for Dr. Melvin Graham in those early days when there was no hospital, and they would have to make ‘house calls’ near and far to give medical aid.
