“Local families and youth are one of the focal points for our organization,” said club president Gordon Friesen. “We want to draw attention to this park that will be one of the public park improvements in Ponoka. We need your opinion as to what this park needs.”

“We are hoping residents will have a chance to enjoy a day in the park. We also want to have input from local residents for the needs and want for local families. This is a family friendly event that will allow people to bring friends or help new comers to Ponoka meet other families in the community,” he said.

On June 17, each member of the new club will be inducted at a ceremony at Legacy Place at 7 p.m. The community ia welcome to attend so if you think you’re interested in joining the Rotary Club or would simply like to learn more about it and the positive work members want to do in our community, Friesen invites you to attend.

“It will be a great night,” said Friesen. “We will have representation from other central Alberta Rotary Clubs who will briefly speak about initiatives going around Alberta that Rotary sponsors. If citizens want to find out what they can do for the local or the greater community please attend. Attendees can look forward to spending the evening with a group of people who believe in ‘Service Above Self.’ ”
