It was not as fancy as those on TV, but the talent show put on by the Nipisihkopahk Elementary School on the Samson nation reserve on Thursday, June 12 had everything and more in terms of entertainment and fun for everybody involved.

The show, supported by Ponoka Capitol Theatre and Ponoka McDonalds in addition to RCMP Maskwacis Detachment, who also supplied a jury member, featured everything from old time Rock’n Roll to First Nations lullabies, from live music performance to stand-up comedy to disco dancing.

The show was not organized as a competition but rather as an event to allow the students to display their talent in front of their friends and each and every performer received flowers and small gifts from the jury members at the end of their act.

Some participants turned a little shy at the beginning of their performance, but with the encouragement of Principal Tracy Larocque, who was also the MC of the event, things went back to normal and every participant received great applause from the audience.
