They just can’t help it … the Ponoka Piston Poppers were at it again in the past few weeks, taking the show on the road. Turning heads as they paraded down the road, they did a little show for the seniors at Royal Oak Village in Lacombe then another at the Seasons Retirement Community in Wetaskiwin.

They rounded out the fall with a tour to Open Creek Camp Ground west of Ponoka and treated campers there to car stories and photo ops. About 20 cars were on hand to check out and ask about.

At each place the folks who brought out the cars had a barbeque meal put on by a couple of the club members that included hotdogs, burgers, salads and desserts.

Then the seniors came out and were able to check out the cars and meet the owners at their leisure. Many stories and smiles were traded.

The weather cooperated every time, so people were able to be out enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.

A couple of members even helped to load some furniture at the home in Wetaskiwin.

It’s so much fun to drive and show-off the cars; so much fun to bring something different to people who may not be able to get out to see them in the bigger shows.

When the group goes to the seniors homes the residents can look at them out windows if they aren’t able to get outside.

When a bunch of fun cars are together almost anywhere they attract attention and questions.

The Piston Poppers just can’t help it … bringing as many smiles to people as they can and travelling to surrounding communities to do it.
