Tools for Tough Times

Every Thursday evening in March, from 6 to 7:30pm, the public is invited to free sessions on coping in these changing economic times, hosted by the Ponoka Jubilee Library, presented by Michelle Stirling.

Michelle is a local employment counselor and a member of the Career Development Association of Alberta.

"In changing economic times, people need access to different kinds of tools," said Stirling. "Some need job search information and resources, some need money management tools. Others think of changing careers and most of us need some tips on how to de-stress. I will try to provide a variety of tools, ideas and direction."

The sessions are free of charge. The first half hour uses a number of internet resources; the seond half hour looks at informal self-help and reflective personal tools...."like how can you take advantage of chance and luck?"

The last half hour looks at ways to de-stress your life, from credit counseling and health services, to adopting and attitude of gratitude, focusing on what you DO have, not what you may have lost.

Ponoka Jubilee Library is an ideal venue as it is one place where many resources are available virtually free of charge - and parents can bring their kids along to enjoy the children's books while they partake in "Tools for Tough Times".
