Back by popular demand, the second Annual Rimbey Twilight Holiday Shop Night will take place on Dec. 1st from 5 to 8 p.m. The event truly brings businesses and Rimbey locals together as it’s the kick off not only the holiday season, but the holiday shopping season.

“This is an opportunity for residents and families who may work out of town to come into the downtown core, shop and enjoy a festive night,” says event organizer Leah Bousfield. Last year the event drew over 200 plus people to the downtown core.

The Rimbey Lions Club will be at the Town Hall offering free hot refreshments and hot dogs to please the crowd.

Member of the Lions Club Laverne Oberhammer said they are looking forward to the event, as last year’s went amazing.

“It was absolutely amazing to see how many businesses wanted to get involved and did get involved, and how much the community absolutely appreciated something like that being held. It was phenomenal. The streets were packed,” he said.

Mandy Swanson of Mandy’s Fashions, who will be participating again this year, said last year’s event was well received.

“We were very busy last year. It was a great evening and it was nice seeing everybody walking around town. It was great,” she said.

Corey Glenn with Lantin Ranch will be out with his horse-drawn carriage, and riding on the back will be some of the Rimbey Christmas Carollers, plus music coming from local businesses. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making their holiday guest appearances on their many stops from the North Pole. The Rimbey FCSS will be in the Rimbey Review office with hot popcorn and offering free Christmas gift wrapping, and accepting donations for the Food Bank. Rode Hard Speed Shop and Eckville Welding will be out on the street keeping the shoppers warm with their portable fire pits.

This fun event brings everyone together. Organizers are looking forward to seeing more people out as the event grows.

The Twilight Shop would not be possible if it wasn’t for the local stores all wanting to participate and stay open late, and the volunteers that help put it together. This year there will be a Christmas Tree in the Rimbey Review office decorated with small gifts donated by local merchants and non-profit societies.

From Dec. 2nd to 12th, random names will be drawn from the draw boxes that will be around town the night of the Twilight Shop, and for those who entered their names, the Rimbey Review will be calling the individuals to come in to the Rimbey Review office to pick out a gift off the tree as a little something extra to make the holidays all the more special.
