On April 13, between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Ponoka Composite High School was vandalized. Unknown suspects broke into the equipment shed at PCHS and took javelins and golf clubs. They proceeded to the roof of the high school where they broke the windows of the General Purpose room and broke the window of the school’s front door.

The total cost is not yet known but the Ponoka RCMP said in a release that it is conservatively believed to be thousands of dollars worth.

PCHS principal Ian Rawlinson has put out announcements at school in hopes of finding some tips and is working with the RCMP. He said that the staff and students are very frustrated because it has disrupted the school and closed down their GP room where they hold lunch.

“It is very disheartening when you are trying to make the school look great and we are working with our students who are great and it is unfortunate that this happened,” said Rawlinson. “Students are pleased with the positive changes and when this happens it takes the wind out of your sails.”

If anyone has any information regarding this crime or know the identity of those who committed it are urged to call Ponoka RCMP at 403-783-4472.
