The West Ponoka 4-H beef club had a very busy February. The cold snap in January meant that we postponed our mid-year weigh-in until the next meeting. Early February we went to Cline Farms to process our beef projects. We followed up with a meeting, a communication workshop and a potluck as well as some skating and socialized. It was not only a very productive day but it was fun.
We hosted our club communication event Feb. 8 and all members did a prepared speech and an impromptu. There may have been some shaking knees and a few nervous members but you couldn’t tell once they were up at the podium. Everyone did such a great job. It was an amazing day of interesting topics and lots of laughs.
We could not have pulled it off without all the help from others, such as our judges and volunteers (our parents) as well as ALTALINK, our 4-H communication sponsor.
This year our club was responsible for hosting the East Zone public speaking. So our club again came together to put on another event. This is where all the participants that placed first or second at their club level move on and compete against other clubs. This was held Feb. 23 at the Lincoln Hall. Congratulations to those that placed in zones and good luck as they move on to districts March 8 in Rimbey.
