YES/PASS program gets principal

Gillian Marshall has been appointed as a new assistant principal, joining Principal Barb Pears and Assistant Principal Robert Reid

Gillian Marshall has been appointed as a new assistant principal, joining Principal Barb Pears and Assistant Principal Robert Reid in providing administrative support to the newly combined YES/PASS program in Lacombe, as well as to the patients’ school at the Centennial Centre For Mental Health and Brain Injury in Ponoka.

“I am looking forward to moving back into administration and working with both students and parents who access these special programs,” Marshall said. “I believe my previous experience in special education will help contribute to Wolf Creek’s new direction in inclusive education.”

“Ms. Marshall is a familiar face in Wolf Creek Public Schools having served as both an Assistant Principal (six years) and principal (four years) at Eckville Elementary School. This past year, she returned to the classroom as a teacher in the YES program in Lacombe where she provided outstanding service to her students and school,” said Jayson Lovell, assistant superintendent of people services.

“Ms. Marshall brings a strong background in understanding our district’s inclusionary vision and will play a key role in moving this agenda forward.”

Prior to joining Wolf Creek Public Schools, Marshall taught at Pioneer School in Rocky Mountain House for 11 years. During that time, she taught grades 6 to 8 core subjects in a regular classroom. She also taught in an integrated occupational program, and designed and taught in a behavioral classroom.

Marshall holds a bachelor of education degree from the University of Lethbridge and a master of education degree in educational leadership from the University of Portland.

Outside of school, Marshall enjoys travelling, swimming, skiing, canoeing and hiking.
