Canadians are guided by the values of compassion, kindness and generosity. In keeping with that our federal government is providing significant support for seniors. Canadians owe our strong and confident nation to the many contributions of our nation’s seniors.

The East Ponoka 4-H Beef Club has been extremely busy in the past months. Project Porchlight was held on Dec. 1, 2007. The majority of the club members and parents distributed around 500 light bulbs. It was a very successful fundraiser.

Volunteers have been an active driving force in Ponoka for many years. Without them and their efforts to benefit the community Ponoka would be very different. Volunteer week is an important designated time to recognize the hard work and dedication of the volunteers in the community.

Last week 24 youth and four leaders embarked on a mission’s trip to Vancouver to serve in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and various organizations in the downtown eastside.

April’s arrival dramatically announces the end of winter and the transition to warmer weather when new life springs from the earth. The changing of seasons can be explained by the earth’s orbit around the sun and the changes we experience on earth coincide with changes we observe in the night sky.

Spaghetti fun will help school to obtain vital resources for students. For the first time the Friends of Crestomere School Club will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and silent and live auction on April 12 at Lincoln Community Hall.

In our community, as well as our school community, there are several families who are faced with some sort of adversity which may prevent their children from participating in certain school activities.
