The “Crazy Senoritas,” a trio of comical female impersonators from Mexico, fly to Calgary for their fourth tour of western Canada which begins July 11 at the Ponoka Golf Club.

The tour will also take “the girls” to Grande Prairie, Falher, Grimshaw, High Level, High River, Medicine Hat and Regina.

The enduring popularity of The Senoritas in western Canada is largely due to their side splitting performances at the famous Luna Lounge in the tiny seaside town of Bucerias, near Puerto Vallarta.

For 12 years, they have drawn sellout crowds to the popular dinner show venue, most of them Canadians escaping B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan winters.

Before each show at The Luna Lounge, co-owner Hugh Gaffney likes to tell audiences “all of tonight’s performers are men. The best looking ones are men. And the ones that may turn you on a bit, they’re men too.”

A fitting introduction to a memorable evening. The Crazy Senoritas are led by Azael Carrillo, a.k.a. “Diva Divine,” who keeps audiences in stitches with his razor-sharp wit, creative disguises and hilarious alter egos.

Adding to the fun are Jose Pena, as “Miss Sussan” and Jorge Hernandez as “Miss Dani” who speak only Spanish but are experts at lip-syncing songs by everyone from Cher to Celine with amazing style and charisma.

Sporting their outrageous Vegas showgirl style costumes festooned with sequins and with high heels and higher wigs, one can be forgiven for thinking that these actors can’t possibly be men.

A Crazy Senoritas show is all about “fun for grown-ups.” The humor is edgy, but not offensive.

Questionable song lyrics are performed in a light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek way. Audience interactions and “photo ops” are always hilarious.

At the end of each show, there is always a lineup of fans waiting to have their picture taken with “the girls” to amuse friends and relatives. For more information, call The Peppered Elk at 780-851-2282.
