Ponoka will have an opportunity to see world renowned comedian Lorne Elliott at the Kinsmen Centre on April 6 at 7 p.m.

Elliott, who is probably most famous for his CBC Radio comedy series, Madly Off In All Directions, will be taking the stage at the Kinsmen Centre on April 6 to entertain the public with his wild hair, good humour and songs with hilarious lyrics.

Karen Duke, president of the Ponoka Performing Arts Society believes that Elliott is more than worth seeing and that this event will once again be a huge success.

“We’ve had him in Ponoka twice before,” she said. “We had put out a survey of which performers people would want to see again and a lot of people wanted him back to Ponoka.”

Duke finds Elliott very entertaining and is pleased with the response he brings from the audience.

“He is very well received,” she said. “He’s a topnotch performer and right away has you in hysterics.”

Duke finds that although the entertainment is not questionable in content, it is still geared more towards an adult crowd rather than young children because of the topics he chooses to focus on.

“He starts out slow and then really gets going,” she said. “A lot of it is political satire and stories based on his travels. It’s all very funny and clean.”

Elliott has performed all over the world in clubs, theatres and universities. He has opened for Jay Leno and has made regular appearances at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. He has also been on many talk shows and variety shows throughout Canada and the United States. Elliott has graced the television networks of BBC, CBC, CTV, the Comedy Network and ABC, just to name a few. He has also taken the stage to entertain his audiences from coast to coast.
