Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Gary Fjellgaard will perform Oct. 21 at the Ponoka Drop-In Centre.
His Song of the Prairies concert also features Saskia and Darrel, an award-winning duo from Saskatchewan. Saskia and Darrel have just released their new CD, Songbirds. Their superb songwriting, storytelling, and playing complement their energetic and fun stage presence. Saskia and Darrel’s storytelling is in the grand old style of ’70s folk singers, yet packaged and delivered in a modern message to the heart.
Prairie born, Fjellgaard is bringing his acclaimed Prairie Roots Trio back to Alberta. They are looking forward to a serving of lots of laughter with their friends and fans.
From Prague to Ponoka, they have played for appreciative audiences but they always enjoy Alberta where the fans not only love but understand their music. Songs about Louis Riel, windswept prairies and the simplicity of heart land living stir the imagination and memories of concert goers and keep them coming back.
Fjellgaard has released fifteen albums and his song Riding on the Wind was named Single of the Year in 1985 by the Canadian Country Music Association. In 1993 he won a Juno Award for Best Country Male Vocalist.
