Not one, but two family day events

There’s no excuse to be home on family day Feb. 15 in the town of Ponoka with two fun-filled events ready for families to enjoy.

Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can enjoy popcorn and cotton candy, face painting, balloons, and more while all can indulge in a beef on a bun catered by Family Meats and hear the sounds of Olympic torch singer Kayla Williams.

“It will be fun-filled for moms, dads, kids and basically the entire family,” said organizer Tami DeVries. “This is the chance for Ponoka to give a fun, family event.”

A children’s clothing fashion show will also take place at 1 p.m.

Ponoka Culture and Recreation Complex

The Town of Ponoka is hosting its own Family Day activities beginning at 11 a.m. including skating on the main ice and shinny on the small ice. Horse-drawn sleigh rides and face painting from noon to 3 p.m., hot dogs and chocolate is available from 11: 30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and to close off the day, a bonfire will be held by the Ponoka Fire Department.

Admission is a donation of a non-perishable item to the Ponoka Food Bank.
