Ponoka Legion helps clear the clutter and prepare for spring

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure is a popular adage that residents of Ponoka should keep in mind.

The Royal Canadian Legion, Ponoka Branch, is kicking off its program to produce the sixth annual version of Alberta’s largest indoor garage sale. The theme of this year’s sale is “Help us to help our community” and that’s what the legion plans on doing.

The legion has been and will continue to approach members of our community asking for the donation of good, usable surplus items from their basements, garages and storage rooms for sale at the event scheduled for May 9 and in turn, will be helping people clear their clutter too.

“We need to have these donations early so that we can prepare them for sale. Our volunteers are ready to pick up your donations – just give us a call and we’ll be there. Start your spring cleaning early,” said event organizer, Reg Rust.

Pickups can be scheduled by phoning the Legion at (403) 783-4076 or, if preferred, items can be dropped off at the Legion Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Royal Canadian Legion, Ponoka Branch, is a non-profit organization chartered in 1928 and has contributed to the Ponoka community for over 80 years with funding of youth programs, medical equipment, housing projects, sports and seniors’ programs.
