Thunderstorm warning issued in Ponoka County, County of Wetaskiwin

A thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Central Alberta.

Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Central Alberta. 

The alert was issued just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday for Ponoka County, near Rimbey, Bluffton and Hoadley, as well as County of Wetaskiwin near Alder Flats and Winfield. 

According to Environment Canada, meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to toonie-sized hail and heavy rain.

This storm is 10 kilometres southwest of Winfield and moving slowly to the east.
