Several communities in Central Alberta were under a tornado warning for parts of Wednesday evening.
That warning was no longer in place as of 9:15 pm Wednesday, but Environment Canada had issued a serve thunderstorm warning for parts of south Central Alberta.
"Extra care and attention should be exercised in and around the following localities: Clive, Alix, Eckville and Lacombe. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a very dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts, baseball size or greater hail and heavy rain," Environment Canada said.
Much of Central Alberta was still under a tornado watch late Wednesday night. That watch was issued by Environment Canada around 2:30 p.m.
"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Thunderstorms may develop in the foothills later this afternoon. If they develop, they will become severe with very large hail, very strong winds, and a risk of a tornado," Environment Canada said.
More to come.
