The Camrose Police Service (CPS) responded to several incidents allegedly involving youths, including thefts and assaults, in the downtown area over a two-day period earlier this month.

On June 6, at about 9:30 p.m., police responded to a theft from a business near Mirror Lake, allegedly involving several youths.

CPS believes the youth were involved in another theft and an assault before fleeing the area. The matter is still under investigation.

The police are asking anyone with photos of video of the incident to contact CPS and reference file 25-787965.

About half-an-hour later, police were called to the downtown area where a male youth was bleeding excessively from severe cuts on his arm.

CPS state the youth had allegedly assaulted a male before punching the window of a downtown business, resulting in his injuries. The youth was provided with first aid and transported to hospital.

Because he is a minor, the name of youth will not be released. The matter is still under investigation.

The following afternoon, June 7, police were called to the downtown area for a report of a serious assault on a male involving multiple assailants.

CPS determined two adult males and a male youth allegedly assaulted a male by striking him with a glass bottle and punching and kicking him repeatedly during an altercation.

The victim was treated in hospital for his injuries and discharged.

Police also believe the youth stole the bottle of alcohol from a liquor store prior to the assault.

The three accused were arrested and had charges laid against them.

The two adult males were charged with assault and released with conditions.

The youth was charged with assault with a weapon, theft, assaulting a police officer for allegedly spitting at officers during his arrest, breach of probation, and breach of a release order. He was remanded into custody.
