Leduc County resident to serve 2 years for fleeing police in stolen vehicle

One of the men charged with leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle from Wetaskiwin to Red Deer County on Oct. 10, 2024, has been sentenced. 

Leduc County resident Jeff Medd, 41, was sentenced on March 13, 2025, after pleading guilty to a few of the charges against him. 

For theft of a motor vehicle, assault of a peace office and flight from a peace officer, Medd was handed down a sentence of 910 days, minus 179 days served in pre-trial custody. 

Co-accused Corey Peers, a 36-year-old resident of Wainright, Alta., is now scheduled for a summary disposition (a court decision without a full trial) at the Wetaskiwin Court of Justice on March 31, 2025.

Gwynne, Alta. resident Brent Shawn Greenwall, 51, is facing several charges including assaulting a police officer, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and various weapons offences.

He was scheduled to enter an election and plea on Feb. 11. 

A preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to stand trial has now been set for Aug. 11, 2025, at the Wetaskiwin Court of Justice.
