The RCMP has charged a Wetaskiwin resident in relation to the armed robbery of a gas station last week.
Wetaskiwin RCMP were called to the 7-11 on 40 Ave. at 2:19 a.m. on June 2 for a report of an armed robbery.
The suspect was carrying an apparent black hand gun, allegedly pointed it at an employee and made demands.
Various smoking-related items were stolen and the suspect left.
RCMP say after an "intense" investigation, they arrested a male on June 5.
A search warrant was carried out at the suspect's home, during which RCMP reportedly located two pellet hand guns.
Wetaskiwin resident Jonation McMahon, 42, has been charged with robbery with a firearm, two counts of weapons offences and being disguised with intent.
McMahon was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His next court date is set for June 17, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
