Help needed to document Forshee history

To make the record as complete as possible the writer is searching for documents, stories and photos that are reflective of the Forshee community, particularly before 1950.

Dear Editor:

My maiden name was Marilyn Moore and I am a baby boomer who was raised in the Forshee area.

I am trying to document the history of the Forshee community. To make the record as complete as possible I am searching for documents, stories and photos that are reflective of the Forshee community, particularly before 1950.

With the help of many fine people, I have found the legal document forming the Forshee Community Hall Company Limited in 1934, the minutes of the Forshee Ladies Club, and some photos including the general store, the elevators, a couple hockey teams, a ball team from the Fifties, and miscellaneous community events. I have not found a picture of the original Forshee hall which burned in 1957.

If you have photos (they will be returned), stories or anything else relating to the Forshee area that could be included in this compilation, please forward them by June 10 to Marilyn Pottage, 4757-56 Street, Red Deer, AB., call 403-340-3889, or e-mail marilynpottage@telus.net.

Copies of this Forshee community documentation will be donated to the Rimbey, Bentley and Red Deer museums as well as the Bentley Historical Society.

Thanks so much for your help in recording the history of Forshee.

Marilyn Moore Pottage,

Red Deer
