Dear Editor;
I am writing in regards to the decimation of the trees on our street. Two years ago we purchased a home in what was once a beautiful treed neighbourhood. As of this morning, to my horror 19 trees were sacrificed in the name of what? Water pipe maintenance? My neighbours seem to think it’s because the tree roots might be interfering with the pipes, when in fact it smells like insurance money reasons to me.
Removal of some trees is understandable, but how much thought was put into preserving the beauty of the neighbourhood. It saddens me to think the fully treed neighbourhood we moved into is not to be seen again in my lifetime.
Money wins over nature again!
