Party politics makes voting unattractive

Dear Editor; You asked a question in your last editorial. Why are less and less people going to the polls? I think it is party politics.

Dear Editor;

You asked a question in your last editorial. Why are less and less people going to the polls? I think it is party politics. People are tired of seeing political leaders bicker, not working together and claiming they are better than the other party. As long as this attitude from our party leaders continue, voter turnout will decline.

I think what is needed is free votes for our elected MPs. So what if all party members don’t vote the same? They will at least be representing their constituents. And it would be a good thing for these party members to sit down and discuss issues that affect all Canadians. People are tired of these party leaders telling us what is good for us. Look what happens when a party members goes against party policy. They are kicked out of caucus or party and must sit as an independent.

This country is too good, and the working together of all parties will make it better. A free vote system will make sure voices are heard from coast to coast. We must start letting our concerns be heard.
