Rink was a success

Dear Editor:

I’m writing this letter on behalf of myself and all the new friends I have met at the 11:30a.m. to 1p.m. skate, and at the outdoor rink while it was in operation.

What a great pleasure and privilege it has been for all of us who had the opportunity to use those facilities. I can say without a doubt that Ponoka is the envy of all towns in our area. No other town offers what we offer; I hear this from the players, every time I play. Some of the people I have met come from Sylvan Lake, Rimbey, Blackfalds, Lacombe, and Mecca Glen etc.

The outdoor rink was a total success and will be for years to come. It provided a very special feeling and great fun for so many people: young and old, moms and dad’s with their kids, beginner skaters, who may not have the opportunity or time to be involved with organized sports. During the school breaks the ice was packed with families and kids.

So, my friends and I wish to say thank you to all who have been involved, the many donations from all the great sponsors and the many groups who devoted their time and efforts that have made this possible and last but not least, the friendly staff at the arena.
