Dear Editor:
Why is this happening? Surely it has to be of concern to the town. Or why haven’t town councillors and mayor done anything to encourage the Greyhound rather than making it difficult to find any place to stop? Permanently.
Yes, this may be a problem but consider what those who depend on the bus have to go through.
Fortunately, I can, and do drive, but I decide to take the bus to Calgary instead. This was the procedure required: first, I must phone the Lacombe Greyhound to obtain their schedule and inquire about parking space to leave my car (there isn’t any space.) Okay, now I must find someone to drive me there before 8 a.m. Good luck. Oh, by the way, I must drive down to Lacombe on a weekday to purchase my ticket as I’ll be travelling on Saturday and the depot is closed then.
So, how many of you businesspeople might like to go this route if one day you should have to take the bus? Well never mind, you’ll probably never have to do it.
But how many people do have to use the bus and have no choice about it? Those who have a medical appointment in Red Deer, seniors who don’t drive anymore, those who don’t have a car, or, like me, prefer to go by bus.
Does anyone really care how inconvenient it is for the citizens in Ponoka not having any bus service here?
Not to mention the cargo/courier services that could effect everyone at some time. So, what is being planned to get this service back?
