1st Ponoka Traditional Scouting host pine car derby

Scouting groups from Camrose and Edmonton attended

The 1st Ponoka Traditional Scouting group held a pine car derby at the Baden-Powell Adventure Centre on April 26, welcoming scouting groups from Camrose and Edmonton. 

"Family members cheered on racers as they raced their vehicles," said group commissioner Maurice Mazurat.

A number of awards were given out in the following categories:

- Otters ages 5 to 7 (Otter buggies);

- Timber Wolves ages 8 to 10 (Pine cars);

- Explorers ages 11 to 16 (18 wheelers);

- Senior Explorers 16 to 18 (Pine trucks) and,

- Leaders fun race.

Each category was given awards for first, second and third place, and award for best in show.

This was the second time the group used their new track since it was built locally.
