AltaLink will be using a helicopter to perform an aerial patrol of its electrical transmission facilities in the Central Alberta area starting on May 26.

Communities that may see a helicopter in their area include Ponoka, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Leduc and Devon.

The patrols, which are expected to be completed by May 30 (weather permitting), are an annual inspetion of the company's transmission lines and surrounding vegetation, "helping to maintain the reliability of the grid through proactive maintenance," stated a press release.

AtlaLink states it is mindful to minimize disruption to residences, area users, livestock and wildlife while conducting their aerial surveys.

Those with any questions about the aerial patrols can contact AltaLink at 1-877-267-1453.
