Death of 26-year-old in Samson Cree Nation deemed suspicous

RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a 26-year-old man on Samson Cree Nation after he was found deceased in a residence on Feb. 11. The victim’s car was found on fire later that evening.

At 12:15 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person at a home on 6 Mile. Members deemed the circumstances around the death as suspicious.

Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit took over the investigation and the deceased was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Gordelle Soosay. His death is being treated as a homicide.

at 7:55 p.m. on Feb. 11, RCMP got a call about a vehicle on fire south of Highway 611 near 3 Mile, on Samson Cree Nation.

The vehicle, an Audi sedan, was found to belong to Soosay.
