Gas thief drills hole in gas tank

On July 30, 2019 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter and theft of cash from the till at a local business, which was physically removed from the business and discarded in a wooded area near the business. There are no leads at this time.

On July 30, 2019 the Ponoka RCMP received a complaint of theft of fuel from a vehicle parked in the area of 60 Ave. and 59 St. overnight. A hole was drilled in the complainant’s gas tank and $100 worth of fuel was stolen. This file remains under investigation.

On July 31, 2019 a Ponoka RCMP member noticed a male known to be prohibited from driving exiting the driver’s side of a vehicle at a local gas station. Further investigation found the license plate on the vehicle to be expired.

The male driver indicated he was obtaining gas to take the newly purchased vehicle home for repairs. When the male produced his license he was found to be prohibited from driving Canada-wide. The male was arrested and released on further conditions for court in Ponoka in October, 2019.
