Gord Bamford to host celebrity hockey match in Ponoka

The Dec. 21 event is open to the public. Attendees encouraged to donate to the Ponoka Food Bank.

Canadian Country music star Gord Bamford is back home in central Alberta for the holidays.

He’s hosting a special celebrity hockey game at the Ponoka Culture and Recreation Complex this Thursday, Dec. 21 from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend. Admission is free but you are encouraged to bring a non-perishable donation for the Ponoka Food Bank.

Gord is inviting some former NHL and WHL players along with some local celebrities. The full celebrity roster is not available but details are expected soon.

This annual event is being held at the Ponoka Arena for the first time this year!

The game will be played on the large indoor ice surface at the arena. We’re told there will be some very big names on the ice.
