The North Red Deer River Regional Water Services Commission is moving to advance a waterline extension project that will provide a reliable source of drinking water to Ermineskin Cree Nation, near Maskwacis, from Ponoka.
The commission reached a key milestone with the selection of a dedicated project management team to oversee the project’s progress from planning through completion, according to a release.
“Our top priority is a safe, assured drinking water supply for our current and future members in the region,” said Grant Creasey, commission chair.
“Today’s milestone sets the stage for an efficient, collaborative process over the next 36 to 48 months. With our partners we are committed to completing this project on time and to the highest standards of quality.”
As the project advances, the commission will continue to work with the Ermineskin Cree Nation, and the funding agencies which include Alberta Indigenous Relations, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and local stakeholders, ensuring open communication and alignment with community priorities, continued the release.
