The Ponoka lodge of the Canadian Royal Purple donated care packages to the Ermineskin Women’s Shelter on Oct. 26, in recognition of Family Violence Awareness Month in November.

Their collection drive for domestic violence awareness is one of their main events of the year. The items were donated by members and local busineses.

This year, the drive was focused on small children, who unfortunately, are often caught in the middle of domestic violence and who patron shelters along with their mothers.

Items collected included children’s clothing, socks, and beeding.

The Ponoka Jubilee Library also donated colouring books for the drive.

The Ponoka Royal Purple currently has 11 official members.
