On Feb. 19 at approximately 1 p.m. the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a truck that ran into the side of the 7-Eleven.

The throttle on the truck was stuck and when the driver tried to apply the brakes the vehicle slid into the building causing damage to the east side. No injuries were reported in this incident.

Continuing fraud issues

Police want people to be aware of a new fraud issue.

They warn individuals not to accept any E-transfers from suspects posing as the Canada Revenue Agency.

A suspicious email is sent out asking receivers to click on a link to have money deposited into their account from the CRA.

This is a fraud as the CRA does not operate in this fashion. Police say receivers should not click on the link or provide any banking/personal information.

Please contact the Anti-Fraud Centre and forward them the information from the email: www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.

If you have information, please call the Ponoka RCMP at 403-783-4472. If you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by internet at www.tipsubmit.com. You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers, and if you provide information to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest(s), you may be eligible for a cash reward.
