The 'Community Magic' event held at the Riverbank Commons on Dec. 11 spread some holiday cheer and support for families in need this holiday season.
Redneck Barbie business owner Mary Lynn Ellingson and her son Dusty delivered $600 worth of food and $50 cash to the Ponoka Food Bank made possible by the event.
On Dec. 11, a collection of local businesses held a free community barbecue, meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a chance to give back to the community with a food bank donation.
The businesses, led by Ellingson, also collected, decorated and donated 16 Christmas trees to Ponoka families.
Ellingson also collects purses and essential items during the holiday season and those were recently donated to the Ermineskin Women's Shelter, the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre's emergency department, the RCMP and the Ponoka Rising Sun Club House.
