In a Facebook post on Jan. 24, the Town of Ponoka advised due to unseasonably warm temperatures, there won’t be an ice sculpture display in the downtown plaza this year.

“The town had hoped to bring back an ice sculpture display to Ponoka this year,” stated the post.

“However, due to unseasonably warm temperatures in December and early January, and unpredictable weather patterns this year, the ice sculpture display will not be returning this season.”

The post went on to say the town will soon be announcing a number of family-friendly events being held for Family Day this year (Feb. 19).

“Please stay tuned for more details which will be posted on the town website and social media pages in the coming days.”
