The Ponoka RCMP has arrested two male suspects from Calgary after responding to a report of a break and enter in progress at a commercial property in town on Jan. 27.
The detachment received the call at 7:09 a.m. and general duty officers along with Ponoka Traffic Services quickly responded to the property on 50 Street.
The suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot, but were subsequently arrested. Both men are residents of Calgary.
Joel William Hofer, 35, has been charged with breaking and entering, failure to comply with release conditions and theft under $5,000.
David Andre Letourneau-Janveaux, 30, has been charged with breaking and entering, possession of break in instruments, failure to comply with release conditions and theft under $5,000.
Hofer and Letourneau-Janveaux were held for judicial interim release hearings.
Letourneau-Janveaux was remanded for court on Jan. 30, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
Hofer was remanded into custody with his next court date set for Feb. 1, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
