Rimbey Fish & Game Banquet sees sold out crowd

Almost 200 auction items and over 100 sponsors were at this year's banquet and awards dinner.

The Rimbey Fish & Game banquet and awards dinner, held March 8 at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre, was sold out, with around 280 people in attendance.

"The banquet was really good. We had lots of sponsors and donations this year, which was awesome," said Tyler Pletz, president of Rimbey Fish & Game Association.

"There were almost 200 auction items and over 100 sponsors, so overall, it was a really good year for us."

Although no amount was announced yet, the money raised will go toward funding programs like their youth education program, youth camps, Open Creek Dam Campground and more.

"We have youth camps, and every few years, we hire a hunter or educator, and they come, and we get a bunch of kids together and have a hunter education weekend."

The funds also go toward their new lodge and property south of Rimbey.

Pletz says construction is pretty well wrapped up on the new lodge.

"We just had our final inspections and passed our health inspection, so it's ready for use. We have our monthly meetings in it, and we also will be renting it out for smaller functions," he said, adding that it can hold about 100 people for its capacity.

He added that people have already reached out for family reunions and weddings.
