Seasons Ponoka celebrates community spirit during Stampede Week

From June 25 to 28, Seasons Ponoka Retirement Community hosted a fantastic four-day celebration filled with food, fun, and community spirit for its residents and prospects.

From June 25 to 28, Seasons Ponoka Retirement Community hosted a four-day celebration filled with food, fun, and community spirit for its residents and prospects.

Seasons Retirement Communities said the event brought joy to the residents and supported a great cause by collecting non-perishable food items for the Ponoka Food Bank throughout the whole week.

Seasons Ponoka kicked off the celebration with a Pancake Breakfast Carnival that featured classic snacks, a “pie in the face” activity to raise funds for the Ponoka Food Bank, and games like cattle roping, corn hole, ring toss, and a shoot out.

All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Ponoka Food Bank.

“This past week at Seasons Ponoka has been nothing short of magical," said Seasons Ponoka general manager Stephanie Waldron in a press release.

"We packed four days with activities that brought smiles to our residents’ faces and our community closer together in the spirit of joy and giving. These moments make our job so incredibly rewarding, and having Mayor Ferguson join in on the fun was a real treat that added to the excitement."

The carnival was followed by a Seniors Day celebration at the Stampede, where Seasons Ponoka celebrated its residents by taking those interested to the afternoon rodeo performance.

One of the highlights of the week-long celebration was the King and Queen Festival, which featured a best-dressed contest and the crowning of Seasons Ponoka’s very own rodeo king and queen.

The winners were chosen based on their attire, engagement, and activity participation. They were honoured with sashes and a special seat at a reserved head table, adding a royal touch to the celebrations.

Seasons Ponoka concluded the week on a high note by featuring their newly crowned King and Queen on the Seasons’ float during the parade, hosting a barbecue lunch, and bringing everyone together for one last celebration.

"This week-long event was not just about having fun but also about giving back to the community," stated the release.

"The food drive for the Ponoka Food Bank was a resounding success, thanks to the generous contributions from the residents and visitors."

Seasons Ponoka also partners with the Ponoka Food Bank for its annual company-wide ‘One Can Make a Difference Challenge,’ from July 1 to 12.
