In honour of Remembrance Day, Seasons Ponoka Retirement Community held its annual Pennies for Poppies program earlier this month to pay tribute to veterans.

Through this campaign, Seasons Ponoka raised funds for the local Royal Canadian Legion with the support of residents, team members, families, and community members.

Seasons Ponoka also joined other Seasons communities across Ontario and Alberta in 'planting' paper poppies inside and outside their residences as a visual display to honour veterans.

"Every year, Pennies for Poppies allows us to come together as a community and express our immense appreciation to veterans and active service people," said Stephanie Waldron, general manager at Seasons Ponoka.

"Seasons is grateful to those that live and work with us and the greater community for their continued support year after year."

The Pennies for Poppies program invited residents, staff, and visitors to make donations through self-service poppy boxes, taking a moment to honour Canada's veterans. The commemorative paper poppy garden display was created as a tribute to the resident veterans.

All money raised from the Pennies for Poppies program is donated to the local legion's Poppy Trust Fund.
