The Living Sinatra: Dan Lauzon's Tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes coming to Ponoka

Sinatra tribute artist giving Valentines Day show at the Ponoka Golf Club

Voted the world's best Frank Sinatra tribute artist, Dan Lauzon will be performing a special Valentine's Day show on Feb. 14 at the Ponoka Golf Club.

Brantford, Ont.-based Dan Lauzon, a popular figure on the Canadian entertainment scene, has had a long and illustrious career as an actor, singer, and band leader.

At a point in his life when most people think of retiring, he launched a second career to pay tribute to his life long hero and greatest influence, Frank Sinatra.

Lauzon's 'Living Sinatra' tribute to 'ol' blue eyes' has become more successful than he had ever dreamed. It has given him an opportunity to sing with some of the world's greatest orchestras, with popular jazz trios, and as a solo artist in lounges and supper clubs, on television and on tours throughout the Americas and overseas.

But his biggest thrill as a tribute artist came in 2018 when he won first prize in a once in a lifetime international Frank Sinatra tribute artists competition in Sinatra's hometown Hoboken, New Jersey.

For a tribute artist, it just doesn't get any better!

In the 1940s, Frank Sinatra, a young crooner from Hoboken, New Jersey, was “the idol of the bobbysoxers” with the Harry James orchestra. And a solo from 1946 on records, radio, and in night clubs and concert halls.

Over the next five decades he sold more than 150 million records, becoming one of the most successful entertainers of his generation.

In the 50s, Las Vegas became the “go to” place for gambling and entertainment. And its showrooms needed big name entertainers who would appeal to mature, adult audiences with the time and money to frequent the gambling casinos and shows.

Sinatra fit the bill perfectly and soon became a top attraction. He and his pals Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Sammy Davis Jr., soon became known as “the rat pack” often making hilarious surprise appearances at each other's shows, to the delight of audiences.

Over the next four decades, Sinatra appeared in movies, including his highly acclaimed role in From Here To Eternity and in many TV specials, winning 11 Grammys and accumulating a sizable personal fortune.

He formed his own production company, his record label Reprise Records, and invested in real estate, night clubs, and casinos. Some of his investments
were successful and some were not.

His famous quote “I did some things right and some things wrong, but at least I did it my way” is Frank Sinatra in a nutshell.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner at 6:30 and the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
