Starting on Sept. 13, some Ponoka residents may receive a call from Ipsos on behalf of the town as it conducts a random survey regarding citizen satisfaction.
Ipsos, a professional research firm, will be gathering the public’s input through a statistically representative survey, meaning they will use random telephone dialing and a carefully designed survey to receive results that are representative of the community as a whole.
The survey, which is part of the town’s annual consultation process as it plans its 2020 budget, will continue for about two weeks.
It will ask a representative sample of Ponoka citizens their views on topics such as the quality of life in the community, satisfaction levels with municipal services and priorities that citizens would like council to consider.
Previously, the town has put out surveys that allowed citizens to fill out online surveys or paper copies.
This year the survey aims to collect a more statistically valid representation of the views of the community as a whole by randomly inviting citizens to complete the survey.
The next two mobile budget consultation sessions are Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Ponoka Farmers Market and Monday, Sept. 16 at the old library from 4 to 7 p.m. during the Ponoka Community Market.
