The Ponoka Aquaplex will be closed a bit longer than expected due to an unexpected malfunction, the town stated in a press release on Sept. 16.
The Aquaplex has an annual planned closure in the fall to complete regular maintenance and improvements. Originally set for Sept. 3 to 17, the closure has been extended to Sept. 22 to complete "critical maintenance," the town said.
The facility is now expected to reopen to users on Monday. Sept. 23.
"We understand that this extended closure may cause an inconvenience, however the closure is necessary," stated the release. "This work is required to ensure the facility operates safely and effectively."
All memberships will be automatically adjusted to account for the closure period.
Swimming lessons scheduled to begin on Sept. 23, will proceed as planned. There are no changes to the lesson schedule at this time.
