A wind warning has been issued for Ponoka and Bashaw areas.
Environment Canada issued the wind warning early Wednesday morning stating wind gusts up to 100 km/h or more are expected.
This is due to an intense low pressure system forming near Grande Prairie that will begin to track quickly southeastward to lie in southeastern Saskatchewan by 6 pm this evening.
These northerly winds are expected to surface in central Alberta later this morning before exiting Alberta near Cypress Hills this evening, states am environment Canada release.
”Conditions in this area should improve late this afternoon as the winds diminish.”
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
