Ponoka's Maddison Pearman will don the maple leaf again in the upcoming 2024-25 long-track speed skating season.
The 28-year-old will join 16 others on the national team as they compete for international glory on the speed skating circuit. In addition, 20 others were also named to the NextGen team.
Just last year Pearman was left off the national team roster but was named to the NextGen long track team instead. Following a successful 2023-24 international campaign, Pearman earned a spot national team.
So far in her international career, she represented Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and most recently won gold at the World Speed Skating Championships in Calgary last February.
The selections were made based on national and international results from the 2023-24 season.
Pearman and her teammates will train at national training centres and with world-class coaches in Calgary and Quebec City.
The season begins in the fall with the 2024 Canadian Long Track Championships from Oct. 17-20 in Quebec City. Canada will also host the third stop of the ISU World Cup Speed Skating circuit from January 24-26 in Calgary.
