Central Alberta speedskater Maddison Pearman has added another medal to her collection.

The Ponoka native won bronze in the Team Sprint at a World Cup event in Norway on Sunday. Pearman won silver in the Team Sprint at a World Cup event in Beijing last month.

The 27-year-old teamed up with Carolina Hiller and Ivanie Blondin for the three-lap sprint race and finished in a time of 1:28.34, just behind the gold medal-winning Americans 1:27.92. Pearman’s group was well ahead of fourth-place Poland (1:29.71), but slightly behind their silver medalist counterparts from the Netherlands 1:28.17.

“I’m very happy to be back on the podium with the girls,” Pearman said in a Speed Skating Canada release.

“We are lucky that we’ve got a strong team of women that we can interchange and still end up on the podium. I had a disappointing weekend in my individual races, so it feels great to finish off the weekend with a fun event and a medal!”

Pearman was 21st in the 500 metre B-Division, 16th in the 1500m B-Division, and 20th in the 1000m race.

The ISU World Cup Speed Skating season continues next weekend with the fourth competition of the season in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland.
