UPDATE 2, at about 9:30 p.m., June 25:
Traffic flow on the QEII Highway has been restored. Traffic on Highway 616 will remain modified until further notice.
Alberta Transportation will be conducting a safety assessment of the bridge.
The collision remains under investigation.

UPDATE:
Travel remains reduced to one lane on Highway 616 (Millet overpass). QEII northbound is reduced to one lane of travel while clean up of the semi truck and its load is being completed.
Investigation thus far indicates that a refrigerated transport truck drove off the highway and impacted the cement arch of the overpass. The contents of the truck, which was raw beef, were spilled onto the bank and onto Highway 616.
Alberta Transportation will conduct a safety assessment of the bridge.
The collision remains under investigation. Clean up is anticipated to be completed by 8:00 p.m. this evening.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Emergency crews are currently dealing with an overturned truck and trailer off the Millet overpass this morning. STARS air ambulance is on scene.
The Millet overpass and QEII northbound are closed while crews assess and treat the accident.
Traffic is being diverted on Hwy. 616 (Millet overpass), in both directions. Vehicles are not able to cross the highway at this location. It is anticipated to be several hours before traffic will resume.
According to an RCMP news release, this morning at 7:35, Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a serious collision on the QEII northbound at the Millet overpass.
A semi truck/trailer travelling northbound went off the road and struck the side of the bridge. The male driver of the semi has been transported via STARS air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital.
Traffic is currently flowing northbound on the QEII but a further delay will be anticipated when tow trucks are on scene to remove the semi.
The investigation into the cause of this collision, and any resulting damage, is in its very early stages and no further information is available.
