A Brick semi-truck and trailer northbound on Hwy. 2A about a half mile outside of Ponoka was forced off the road on Tuesday, June 30, at around 12:30 p.m., and ended up in a slough.
According to Ponoka RCMP Cpl. Mike Dillon, the driver of the Brick truck slowed down to make a turn as another semi was also turning, and wound up needing to take evasive action to avoid the other vehicle, driving off the road and into the ditch.
The front end of the vehicle became submerged in water.
There were no injuries in this incident.
The road was closed for a short time until the vehicles were removed.
Popow and Sons Towing, based in Lacombe, attended the scene.
It took about an hour and two 50 ton heavy wrecker recovery vehicles to clear the vehicles, according to Wayne Popow.
Popow says there appeared to be a fair bit of damage to the front end of the Brick truck.
