A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Wetaskiwin has been taken into custody.

On Feb. 6, RCMP confirmed that Ryan Jake Applegarth was arrested the previous day.

Applegarth, 27, was being sought by police in relation to a Jan. 3 incident where Wetaskiwin RCMP found a 34-year-old man dead in a home.

A charge of first degree murder was laid against Applegarth on Jan. 28, despite police not having located him yet.

It isn’t known where he was when police arrested him.

Applegarth is being held in custody and was slated to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Feb. 11 to answer to the charge.

It’s expected Applegarth will remain in custody.
